My Love Story: Spirals n 'Shay

January's theme for Ornament Thursday is Love Story. It may bring to mind that sappy '70's movie with Ali McGraw and Ryan O'Neill . Today's project has nothing to do with that. One of the crafts I love is crochet and I'm happy it's back with a vengence. Spirals n shay uses crochet and my flat spirals for a one of a kind necklace.

Supplies you'll need are

Five (5) silver plum flat spirals

Size 8 seed beads in coordinating color

Pearle Cotton size 5 in coordinating color

Two (2) soldered sterling silver jump rings

One (1) "S" sterling silver clasp (I made my own out of 18 gauge sterling wire)

Tools:

1 big eye needle

1 crochet hook size 2.5mm

Scissors

Rather than give an entire set of directions, I'm going to focus on what I love most, the crochet. Below I show you how to crochet the beads onto the embroidery floss.

Bead crochet is fast, easy and lovely to look at! See why I love it so much? So go get a hook, a few spirals, embroidery floss and start hooking! While you're at it, you can sing a few bars of my version of Love Story:

Where do I begin?
To tell the story of how great a hook can be?
The sweet yarn stitches that are lo-va-lee to see
The simple truth about the joy 'Shay brings to me
Where do I start?

You know the lyrics now, go ahead - SING!

I love this because love comes in many forms. Perhaps the creative force is the greatest love of all?! Paging Whitney...

  11. I just learned how to crochet with wire and beads and I can see how easy it would be to "get hooked." Love your necklace!
