YAY! I finally successfully soldered a few of my cabs and added a little bit of wire "filigree." I made the cabs - one is a painted bead that had rough beadholes so I slumped it into a cab. The other cab is a made of glass "shorts" that was fused and ground into a square shape.
I must admit that adding the filigree was the hardest part - I think I need an extra hand to do it again! LOL! I used a bench clamp to hold the piece while I added the filigree.
If you solder jewelry, how do you hold the piece so you can solder on a jump ring or other decoration?

Great job! Cabs would be difficult to solder, but with filigree? Yikes!
I've tried soldering, not successfully yet, but I honestly think you need about 12 hands to accomplish the task.
And Fluxing brilliant they look too Cindy. I haven't attacked anything with a soldering torch ....yet. I have a feeling the air around me may turn a rather interesting colour when I do.
You pieces are just wonderful though - I'm loving the additional detail. Clever lady :o)

I couldn't resist it anymore - I'd had the soldering iron for a bit and wasn't getting to it - the cabs I make everytime I have a favorite bead that goes bad and I can't bear to part with it! By bad I mean a beadhole that's a little rough - I don't grind the holes at all so what to do? slump 'em!
Try it out - it opens up other possibilities for your work.

I'm sure you've got this worked out now ~and I'm no expert! but I find that if you first ready your fluxed finding in a pair of cross lock tweezers and set aside while you put your solder on the piece your fastening the finding to and heat into a little puddle. Attach your finding and heat again while holding in place until set. voila...:)
