It's Academic - Learning to Chain Maille

Happy Ornament Thursday! With the coming of fall, we all turn our attention to academics. I don't attend school anymore but it's always a good time to learn a new jewelry making technique to show off my flameworked beads.

I'm using my Single Glass Links to make chain maille earrings using the free tutorial called Flowers on the Blue Buddha Boutique website. The tutorial is full of great pictures and so it's easy to learn.

Don't forget to pop on over to the Ornament Thursday Blog and see what the Ornament Thursday Girls are up to!

Have you learned a new technique recently? Doesn't matter which media - leave a comment and tell me about it!

Oh, yeah, back to school time as always been one of my favorites! There's nothing better than the feel of starting a "new" year, even when you're a grownup and haven't been in school in years. My kids think I'm a little too excited about back to school stuff, but I can't help loving the whole thing. Hmm, reading Capt. Elaine's blog with her journal sketches made me think about drawing again. Never been a natural, never had lessons, but I do like it. So, with the help of a good book, I've been dabbling in learning some technique so that I can play. It's fun!

I love how you used the colored jumprings for the maille project. Really adds a bit more of a fall feeling to the design. Can't wait to see what you do next with your link and the new chain!

Cindy...very cool earrings! Love the tie in with your "rings" (although we won't be having fall here for about 2 more months!)

AHH! That flower weave is so pretty...

Personally, I'm still trying to master making a bead ball from a tutorial that was on "the Candie Cast" blog.
Jonah can do it perfectly. Mine always have some sort of aberration. /:

Fabulous Cindy! Just a gorgeous 'marriage' of the two.

My partner does chaimaille - & has a hoard of links to fabulous free tutorials saved. I just look & tell him what I want - trouble is that maille he makes up is always way more impressive tham my beads -lol!

I often end up not wanting to ruin his pieces by adding my creations ;o)
