Inspiration Wins! Yellow Inspires

Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll. I had asked readers what kind of topics they'd like to see more of on the blog. If you didn't take a look at the results, the Inspiration/Background/Research topic got the highest number of votes followed by jewelry projects. Personal stories and Glass beadmaking tutorials tied for third place and in last place was Beadmaker tip alerts.

Here's a quick bit of inspiration - the macro picture of the forsythia bush. It seems like over night the Bradford Pears and forsythia has burst forth into bloom. I took this picture 10 days ago - just before the weather warmed up enough for the blooms to open.

I love yellow this time of year - well, I love yellow all the time but almost everyone else loves yellow this time of year too. After the white of winter, people are happy to see a bit of green and lots of yellow.

Transparent yellow glass is difficult not to over heat and make cloudy. Once I mastered how to do it, I shared it on here and started incorporating it into the spirals like the Three Colored Spiral below:

You may not love yellow except in the spring - leave me a comment and let me know if you love yellow, hate yellow or only love it in the spring after a very lonnnnnggg winter.

It all depends on the yellow for me...Nice, muted, springy yellows are wonderful - when I was growing up, my bedroom was yellow and I LOVED it! It's a happy color without being obnoxiously happy...

Yellow is a complicated colour. For me it depends on where the yellow is and what kind of yellow. I like bright yellow flowers but dislike yellow on me. But I love yellow buttons. Maybe I am the complicated one?

I like various tones of yellow, from pales to darks and everything in between. Nice pictures!

Blue is my all-time, hands-down favorite color, but I almost always have a favorite color of the moment. Yellow's turn came way back when I was 14 or 15 years old and had an open weave, buttery yellow sweater that I must have worn every other day. Forsythia, though-- I remember loving them since I was a young child. I like the way you took the transparent yellow and spiraled it with a new leaf green and a branch color :)

Thanks for the link to the transparent yellow tips. I always thought it was a striker that turned opaque when heated. Now, I know how to treat this gorgeous color! Thank you!

I am not one that really cares for yellow at all. It makes me look so sallow I just tend to avoid it in general. For me spring is the budding of the pear blossoms on my trees which are white.

Yes, yellow can be complicated and it can depend on which yellow. I still love it, though. I tend toward the pastel yellow, a soft color the reminds me of a flower petal like the forsythia in my 2nd picture. I don't wear it but I do love the strong yellow of daffodils in the spring - they just seem to jump out of the ground and announce they've arrived along with spring.

I could go on about how I love the strong yellow in Kente cloth or the strong orangey yellow painted on houses in the south of France or or or but I'll stop there otherwise I'll go on for pages!

Thanks for the comments on yellow! Both yellow lovers and yellow not so much likers! :-)
